Legal questions related to the energy sector – but also legal questions that affect other sectors of public commercial law – are often located in the interface between public and private law. Given my expertise in both commercial and public law I can assist you in answering such questions and in finding solutions.
My regulatory expertise of many years originates from the energy sector. This expertise can also be conveyed into other regulated economic sectors that have similar problems.
Energy law
Ever since 2000 – for as long as almost 20 years – I have been focussing on legal and regulatory aspects of the energy sector,
- initially as an in-house counsel with an energy company in Brussels,
- ever since as an external legal advisor and representative as well as an expert,
- from 2007 – 2018 as Vice-President of ElCom, the Swiss regulatory authority for the electricity sector,
dealing with for example problems concerning
- contracts and agreements
- concessions
- the implementation of regulations with regard to the energy transition
- market liberalisation and unbundling
- future Swiss legislation in the energy sector
- developments in European energy law.
